"The focus of this review is for my interaction with and the support of Ms. Trish Baker. The Owens agency is a reasonable State Farm agency. I have had no problems with them, but also have had no claims.
I do want to acknowledge what I consider to have been exceptional initiative and customer support by Ms Trish Baker.
Ms Baker stepped in when an on site inspector refused to go to the property to perform an inspection which was apparently required by their underwriter. The reason for the refusal was that, since there was no paved driveway through my hay field that separates the road from my house, the inspector was afraid she would get lost and not be able to find her way out. At least that was the rationale reported to me.
As a result, the burden fell to me, the property owner, to provide the information and photodocumentation required. Since I live 6 hours away from this property and visit their only periodically, it was important that I knew exactly what information and documentation would be needed in order to avoid additional trips.
Ms Baker jumped into action and made extensive inquiries, keeping me informed of her progress along the way. She subsequently provided me with specific detailed information on what was required as well as any actions I needed to take to assure compliance.
After completing everything and submitting the documentation to Trish, she immediately passed that on to the underwriter.
Without my having to follow up, Trish contacted me to inform me that the submission was complete and successful and that property was properly covered.
While I was annoyed that an inspector was "fearful" of driving across a driveway path in a hayfield, Trish was understanding, sympathetic, supportive, and positive throughout the process. I could tell she worked diligently to assure she was providing me with correct information while doing her investigation very efficiently.

"I had a tree fall at my home on 5/7/26. My homeowners claim filing experience was not good. The removal of the tree was handled with no problems. The problem is that the fence below was damaged. So when I called the person at state farm told me she was sending me a camera link to go outside and take photos. She asked me to walk the fence line heel toe, heel toe . Which I took 20 steps because the tree was in the way. I told her that , she then responded what is your shoe size. I said 8 1/2 , so from that interaction the amount they paid was 486.53. This a true story. I was just stunned because I had never gotten an estimate from a fence company. I uploaded photos of the fence to the person handling my claim to let her know due to a family serious illness I would be getting an estimate from a fence company. She called me back and said the claim has been paid. I was so shocked . I just said ok. The more I thought it over. I decided to contact the local office to make a complaint. I don't anticipate anything changing but I'm sharing my disappointment as a long term customer. My husband had state farm as a teen so we just kept it once we married so we are long term customers. It's just not fair so that is why I'm sharing my very recent experience."

"I was told I could save several hundred dollars by switching. I made a credit card payment for six months upfront. I went online to complete my registration, but then realized they wanted me to keep a Bluetooth beacon in my car and an app on my phone. None of this was disclosed when I gave them my credit card information. I called immediately the same day as well as emailed telling them to cancel as this was not acceptable and I would not be tracked in my vehicle. I never completed my online registration nor did I sign any sort of documents. I requested a refund immediately and for them to cancel this policy as I would not be moving forward. They then told me that they could still save me money with a policy, but it would not be at the same discount as if I used a tracking beacon in my car. I find it completely unacceptable that they would not disclose that they want to track you. Further, I still have not received a refund and the company is indicating it will be a month before my refund is completed. This is completely unacceptable. I had to file a charge back against the company so that I won’t owe interest on a service I canceled immediately. My parents also use the same agent for their homeowners insurance and when we had a storm one year where a tree fell on their roof I had to call over and over to get someone to come out to inspect the roof to make sure that there wasn’t any damage or leaks. State Farm actually was telling my elderly parents who didn’t even own a smart phone that they needed to climb on the roof themselves and take photos. They also use AI to route you through their entire system. Avoid this company at all costs."
